Panasonic Leads Change in R32

Panasonic's Guide to R32

As awareness of climate change and global warming continues to rise, companies, governments and individuals remain committed to reducing human impact upon the environment.

In the air-conditioning sector, we share this drive towards the development of systems which are more energy efficient. Panasonic is also committed to delivering technologies that improve performance; R32 is the next stage in this evolution, ushering in a new era of more eco-friendly air conditioning technology.

Firstly, in the event of refrigerant leakage, R32 has a much lower impact on global warming when compared to its blended predecessors. Its Global Warming Potential (GWP), the relative measure used to calculate how much heat a greenhouse gas traps in the atmosphere, when compared to a similar mass of CO2, is 675. This is significantly lower than the GWP of R410A, which is 2088. When considering future legislation and the anticipated reduction in the availability of concretional refrigerants, plus a drive towards the use of lower GWP refrigerants; products using R32 will be relatively future proofed.

Panasonic has recently introduced its outstanding new Etherea Z indoor units across Europe, which use the R32 refrigerant and are rated A+++ for energy efficiency. Its near silent operation at 19 dB(A) provides exceptional comfort for end users, without compromising performance. Panasonicís new line of air conditioning multi split units are also specifically designed to work with R32, providing a flexible and efficient solution with minimal impact on the environment.

Marc Over, UK & Ireland Country Manager at Panasonic Heating and Cooling, explains how R32 will benefit Panasonic customers; "The introduction of R32 is an important step towards reducing the impact of air conditioning on our environment. For suppliers, it allows them to offer a more sustainable solution, and for installers it introduces the opportunity to offer a more energy-efficient, space-saving and cost effective option to clients. We are really excited by the positive reception to the new R32 units we have introduced this year, and look forward to working with our customers to specify environmentally friendly, efficient air conditioning systems."
