RCM Products is one of the country’s leading suppliers of Grilles, Louvres and Diffusers for air conditioning and heating to the construction industry. Operating from a new manufacturing facility in Kempston, Bedfordshire, the company provides a full range of bespoke products as well as a standard range.

With roots dating back to 1883, the RCM brand was established in 1948 as Richard Crittal Marine, manufacturing the ‘Stylojet’ diffuser range of products and was based in Great Portland Street, London. A renowned reputation for providing quality products and offering exceptional customer service has been the backbone of the business’ success over the years.

Andrew BainesHaving worked for the company for 18 years, Director Andrew Baines explains how the company has got to where it is today.

“The ethic behind RCM is very personal to me. During my time here I have seen the company and the employees go through some very difficult periods; then when I had the opportunity to buy RCM my ‘aspiration’ was to build it up to where it once was many years ago in its heyday. To achieve that I need to start with the ground roots, our employees. I want to build a business that people want to work in, are proud to work in. This takes time and energy and I can’t do it on my own I need all the people involved in the business to want that as well and to work towards it.

“At RCM we strive to ensure all our customers’ needs are met. We have a very personal approach and work with our clients to achieve their goals. We pride ourselves on our flexibility and are more than happy to undertake special bespoke projects.”

The ability to provide bespoke products is what differentiates RCM from its competitors. As well as aluminium, the company can provide steel, brass, bronze, chrome and nickel coated finishes alongside an unlimited range of colours.

“Our products are ‘made to measure’ for our customer’s requirements,” Andrew continued. “This is a personal service of sorts and we go to great lengths to ensure that the product is right for the end location and user. This level of service and attention to detail is not always available in larger companies; this is, I believe, the prime benefit RCM can offer our clients.”

RCM Products can be found in many famous locations around the world such as The Louvre in Paris, Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Concord, University Technical College Silverstone, and many more. Their wide client base varies from UK Government in various guises, large companies who specialise in high end accommodation, parts for sea going vehicles belonging to Royal families from distant countries and many more.

Over the years RCM has experienced many changes including floor moves, new employees, customers and machinery such as the Amada laser and the new 3 meter CNC press brake. The Grille range is currently being developed for plaster board fittings with concealed frames.

When asked to discuss what the future holds for RCM Products, Andrew concluded, “We aim to continue our growth by providing customer service which is second to none, making quality products, developing new products, employing more staff and providing those staff with better futures. As we continue to grow we may look to move to larger premises and we will soon be launching a brand new website.”
