Our first example of natural slate innovation comes from Denmark, where Novo A/S, an independent Danish foundation used our Riverstone architectural slate as flooring for its medical facility in Copenhagen.

Facilitated by SSQ distributor, E. Nielsen Stenhuggeri A/S, we provided 1,200 squared metres of brushed Riverstone architectural slate. The stone was cut to random lengths, 30cm width, with a depth of 1cm to meet the exacting standards and technical credentials of the Scandinavian market, where a culture of stone endures and the love of natural materials continues to thrive.

SSQ - Riverstone architectural slate flooringScandinavians are world-renowned for their passion for interior design and the use of the Riverstone slate in this medical facility fits this mould perfectly. Creating crisp, aesthetically pleasing lines, the slate complements the sleek, modern and minimal feel of other aspects of the interior.

As previously discussed, Riverstone is no ordinary slate; in fact it is a phyllite. Owing to its superior structural strength density, it is the ideal stone for a multitude of interior applications including flooring, cladding, stairs, skirtings, worktops, copings, swimming pools, windowsills and patios.
