Trend Control Systems - 70 Years of Free Healthcare - Happy Birthday, NHS!

National Health - Building Energy Management Systems - BEMS System

Trend - 70 Years of Free Healthcare

The National Health Service is celebrating its 70th birthday this month with a raft of special events, programmes and initiatives planned to mark the milestone birthday.

When the NHS opened its doors in 1948, there were 16,864 GPs working for it; fast-forward to 2018 and there are now an incredible 41,817 GPs providing medical care across the nation.

Over the course of 70 years, the NHS has grown and adapted to a changing population. Ensuring it operates efficiently across all aspects of the organisation is essential – and that includes how the individual NHS buildings are managed too.

Be efficient to remain effective

Over the years, Trend building energy management systems (BEMS) have been installed in many of the NHS’ biggest hospitals, as well as smaller health centres, clinics and GP surgeries.

For example, NHS locations such as Pennine Acute Hospitals, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust have all benefitted from our versatile BEMS technology, which is found in more health sector buildings than that of any other manufacturer.

The wellbeing of building occupiers – from hospital patients to office workers - is also a key priority; the healthcare sector – more than most – is required to provide a high quality built environment and supporting infrastructure such as heating, ventilation and hot water.

The data the BEMS collects allows building and facilities managers to better analyse, understand, reconfigure and improve a building’s internal environment – thereby optimising comfort conditions, keeping people healthy and happy.
