Iconic sanitaryware brand, Armitage Shanks, is set to host an evening of lively discussion and microlectures with Turner Prize winners, leading architects and future visionists.

The five minute ‘TED talk’ style speeches from experts within healthcare and architecture accompany the launch of Armitage Shanks’ new ranges of fittings and clinical ceramics ranges, its most innovative healthcare range yet.

The event, An Evening of Looking Deeper, takes place at the headquarters of RIBA, on London’s Portland Place 6pm-9.30pm on 15th June 2017. Speakers at the event comprise:

  • Louis Schulz, founder of young architects’ group Assemble and winner of the 2015 Turner prize
  • Jennifer Cairns, architect and winner of the Ideal Standard Bathroom of the Future Competition
  • Dr Ron Cutler, Director of Biomedical Science at Queen Mary Hospital London
  • Prof Jacob Tomkins OBE, water sustainability advocate
  • Edward Goodwin, founder member of Goodwin Hartshorn design

Topics within the lectures range from the importance of infection control via hospital design, to the next generation of bathrooms and the potential design issues associated with future water shortages.

Armitage Shanks is a leading provider of sanitaryware and mixers for hospitals, with decades of experience in the sector. Its new Markwik 21+ fittings and Contour 21+ clinical ceramics ranges lead in hygiene innovation and bacterial prevention.

The new range has been designed as a complete solution to help reduce the opportunity for bacteria to grow by addressing areas such as pooling and water stagnation, reducing the amount of static water in the system, working with materials that limit the opportunity for bacteria to feed on and providing a flexible maintenance system to regularly cleanse fixtures and fittings.

2017 sees Armitage Shanks celebrate its bicentenary and the RIBA event forms part of its 200th birthday celebrations. During the event, Armitage Shanks will reflect on its past as well as look to its future.

Refreshments will be provided to event attendees.
