SPC - Metropolitan trench heaters

SPC, a British manufacturer of heating and cooling coils, fan convectors, trench heaters, radiant panels and heat pipes, have supplied SPC Metropolitan natural trench heaters to an office building within the Midland Good Shed development in Kings Cross, London.

Built in 1850 and located in the heart of the city, the Midland Goods Shed started life as a temporary passenger terminal while King’s Cross station was being built. Since then, the Grade II Listed building has been sympathetically restored and converted into an events, cultural and office space.

SPC were approached by Phillips Page Associates (PPA) to provide the trench heaters to reduce glazing losses and enhance comfort. Due to the shape of entrance way, cornered angles were required in order for the trench to fit seamlessly below the glass.

Jeremy Davies, Southern Regional Sales Manager for SPC said;

"The restoration of these buildings forms part of a 67 acre redevelopment site which aims to preserve the heritage of the King’s Cross area while transforming it into a vibrant place to live and work. The renovation of the Midland Goods Shed area certainly helps to achieve this."

SPC - Midland Good ShedDerek Watts, Director for PPA added;

"We have an excellent working relationship with SPC built around quality and trust. I know how flexible they are as manufacturers and that that would be able to offer the angled corner option that we needed on this project. We knew Metropolitan trench heaters would be perfect for the job."

Metropolitan trench heaters are available in both natural and powered units. SPC offer bespoke solutions wherever possible and can provide a vast range of grille colours enabling the client to fit the discrete heaters within their design concepts.
