Piller UK Unveils "Game Changing" Concept Technology for Colocation Data Centres (Stand L40)

Data Centre World - Power Conditioning - Kinetic Energy Storage

Piller - UPS System

At the forthcoming Data Centre World exhibition in London, Piller UK is exhibiting a completely new concept in UPS that promises to revolutionise the way data centre owners and operators think about power conditioning and outage protection.

The ground-breaking technology currently being developed will completely do away with space-hungry batteries, instead using kinetic energy storage technology to provide constant power and ride-through, thereby significantly reducing footprint and other operating costs. The solution being proposed is capable of operating in a wide range of operating modes that enable true power conditioning to be applied whilst achieving exceptional operating efficiencies at both a module and system level. The concept also incorporates a range of innovative concepts within the product itself as well as to support remote operational monitoring and emergency response if needed.

For co-location operators particularly cost has become a major focus in an increasingly competitive field. But it is reliability that remains paramount, the company claims it has found that particular holy grail and is heralding the technology as "game changing".

The technology is expected to be market ready in 2017, following extensive type testing.
