Lady Bee Enterprise Centre, a rather unusual group of flexible industrial units on the dockside at Shoreham Port, has already won an LABC South East Building Excellence Award for ‘Best Small Commercial Building’ back in September. The building is designed by ECE Architecture and its appearance is informed by its sustainability requirements and inspired by the nautical the fishing heritage of the site. Facades and roof feature elZinc Slate Advance standing seam roofing and cladding, elZinc Crystal Shingles and Armourplan membrane gutters all supplied by SIG Zinc and Copper and SIG Design and Technology. The project was completed by Pillbeam Construction and the specialist roofing and cladding contractor was Kingsley Specialist Roofing.

Brandon Yard is a £14m award-winning regeneration project of 58 apartments by AWW. The site includes two derelict buildings: The West Purifier House and Engine House. Slate is ideal for this type of tough marine environment and SIGA slates were chosen for their high quality and for their ability to match existing slate roofs in the scheme. SIGA Slate’s specification team worked with AWW and Camilleri Roofing to select, supply and install SIGA 39 slates which come with a 75-year Warranty.

Barchester Street is a redevelopment of a 1939 factory building and 1956 warehouse provides 115 new affordable homes of the site in the Limehouse Cut Conservation Area. The new scheme which uses A2S1 rated zinc roofing and cladding to provide additional storeys. The elZinc Rainbow Brown Zinc, supplied by SIG Zinc & Copper and installed by All Metal Roofing, was chosen for its warm, bronze coloured tone which architects Metropolitan Workshop felt would perfectly compliment the hues of the existing brickwork. In addition, the product provides excellent protection against corrosion, is cost-effective, sustainable and 100 percent recyclable.

The Pitched Roofing Awards will be announced on Friday 26 February 2021 and the RCI Façade Awards will be announced at a live-stream event on Friday 11 February 2021.

We look forward to sharing the results with you.
